Based in Barnsley, Siroflex was founded in 1994 and are one of the UK’s leading suppliers of sealants and adhesives for the construction trade and DIYers. Siroflex received a letter in the post, offering a free consultation to assess their current lighting system, and to investigate which areas could be improved to make it more energy efficient, and increase productivity.
One of the areas the CEMA Lighting found could be improved was the production area which was filled with racking containing labelled boxes. This space was poorly lit using 250W sodium highbays which produced warm, orange hued light and were operating at less than 70% of their capacity. The team at Siroflex explained that this light made it difficult to read the labels on the stock and found the shadows from the rack overwhelming. CEMA Lighting replaced these products with their market leading 190 lm/w Super Lumen high bay which emitted a brighter, whiter light and a lifespan of 100,000 hours meaning the system is more efficient and more reliable than before.
The main external space consists of both car park and dispatch areas, which were lit using metal Halide MBI floodlights that can contain harmful chemicals (like mercury) and take several minutes to warm up to their maximum output. CEMA Installations replaced these with their 60W single modular floodlights, making a dramatic impact on the energy savings that Siroflex will receive after making the switch.
Siroflex were able to achieve energy savings after the installation of approximately 63% and less than a 2-year return on investment.
