Stagecoach Reduces Energy Costs and Improves Safety with New LED Lighting
Stagecoach is the UK’s biggest bus operator with services connecting more than 100 major towns and cities in England, Scotland, and Wales.
THE CHALLENGE
The rising energy costs and upcoming UK ban of fluorescent lighting prompted Stagecoach in Stratford-Upon-Avon to consider looking for a more sustainable, cost-effective lighting solution to replace their traditional, aging system. Improving the health and safety and wellbeing of their workforce was another important factor so a solution that would offer improved lighting levels across the depot was a key factor.
THE SOLUTION
CEMA worked with Stagecoach to develop a bespoke lighting solution that addressed all of their challenges. After a comprehensive audit of the site our lighting consultant was able to offer a solution addressing all the challenges raised by the customer vastly improving the light levels and safety across the site with our proposal.
CEMA’s in-house installation team completed the project over 4 days working around Stagecoach and their day-to-day operations keeping disruptions to a minimum. The team replaced the old fluorescent fittings in the workshop with our LED 200Lm/W Super Lumen High Output HighBays to increase the lighting levels and vastly improving the safety for staff. Our High-Output IP65 LED Linear Battens were installed across canteen, office and task areas at the site seriously enhancing the light levels and dramatically reducing their energy consumption.
THE RESULT
The new lighting installation has had a positive impact by creating a comfortable work environment for employees improving productivity and safety across the site and by reducing C02 emissions by 7.74 tonnes annually. Thanks to the high efficiency of CEMA’s LED luminaires. Stagecoach is now saving a significant amount of money on energy costs. With a short return on investment of 1.67 years and a whopping 65% annual saving on their lighting energy bills, Stagecoach now has a future-proof cash positive lighting solution. The long lifespan coupled with our market-leading warranty means ongoing maintenance costs are eliminated allowing Stagecoach to concentrate on their operations.
