SPL Foods is a world leader in the import and export of exotic foods from five continents, operating from a 30,000 square foot facility in Oldham, Manchester. With over 70 years of trading SPL Foods supplies a wide range of businesses including large supermarket chains and retailers, cash & carry groups, catering wholesalers and the independent retail sector.
In consultation with our specialist team, our client at SPL Foods explained that their current lighting system was failing and showing signs of aging across their facility. Our lighting consultant, after conducting a full site inspection and lighting consultation concluded the site consisted mainly of inefficient Sodium gas charged lamps. These traditional fittings have an output of 82 lumens per watt with an average lifespan of 20,000 hours - a low light output compared to its high energy consumption.
CEMA Lighting put forward a proposal to replace the existing lighting system with our new and exclusive 200+ Super Lumen Circular HighBay luminaires. These luminaires offer an industry leading 200+ lumens per watt efficiency. CEMA Lighting’s high-efficiency Super Lumen HighBay LED luminaires offer a brighter, whiter light spread making for a more comfortable, safer working environment. With an anticipated life span of 100,000 hours and our market-leading 8-year warranty, including our 5-year fit and forget policy, SPL Foods now have peace of mind that their new lighting system is future-proof and maintenance free all whilst consuming 67% less energy.
Our in-house installation team worked around the client’s day to day operations to complete the project over a three-day period seamlessly. All traditional fittings were removed and responsibly disposed in line with the current WEEE Directive with the help of our lamp recycling partners who ensure nothing goes into landfill.
Following the successful completion of the project SPL Foods now benefit from an annual 13.75 tonne CO₂ saving and will see a return on investment in 1.5 years.
